So...
My birthday, right?
Yeah, my birthday... I spent most of the day depressed and
lonely. My mother made me feel guilty as she usually does this
time of year with such classics as, "I'm sorry it's not much." and,
"This is all I could do this year." I would rather have gotten
nothing at all than have to feel like shit for what I did get.
So, I says to myself, I says,"Well, Corey... You have good
friends and people who love you, and that's really all that matters."
I guess I couldn't have been more right. Millions of "Happy Birthdays"
and well-wishes. Phone calls from every ex-girlfriend ever.
Katie had already given me her gift: a wonderful Buzzcocks
CD. Those guys are great... and I thought, you know, maybe
Joey might pick me up a CD or somethin' neat. Well, yeah...
I was wrong. Joey got me seven CDs and two DVDs. ...
by far the best gift I've ever gotten (next to my Sega Genesis when I
was like, eight)
Here's a catalogue:
The Best Of Punk Rock Vol. 1(The Clash,The Ramones,The Rezillos, etc...)
Lookout! Freakout(Mr. T Experience, The Queers, Screeching Weasel, etc...)
Don's Welcome Wagon(Riverdales, Me First And The Gimme Gimmes, Teen Idols, etc...)
Forward Til Death(Dr. Frank, Crimpshrine, Citizen Fish, etc...)
Punk You Vol. 1(The Buzzcocks, X-Ray Spex, Generation X, etc...)
Short Music For Short People(30 sec. songs from every band you can think of)
Weasel Mania(The 'definitive' Screeching Weasel collection)
Philadelphia In Love(Dead Milkmen Live DVD)
Kung Fu Hustle(by the people who brought us SHAOLIN SOCCER!!!)
...honestly.... Joey really is the best friend in the
world... Not because he spent money on me, but because he cares
enough to go out of his way and obviously knows me enough to know what
to get. Really, that makes me feel pretty damned good about
myself. If someone as great as Joey gives a shit about me, there
must be somethin' cool I'm not seein'.
So, I guess I'll see you guys when I see you.
I'm gonna go play some more of the new Tony Hawk (really lame).
